When you download an application from MSDNAA, it places an application on your computer called a Downloader. In the figure below, you can see the downloader application for Access 2007 on the desktop of a Windows Vista system.

When this file appears, your first step is to double-click it to run it. If you are running Vista, a security window may pop up. If so, click the Allow button. The window shown below should then appear:

Notice that when you click the Continue button, the downloader program will place the results in a folder named Temp on the C: drive of your computer. Click Continue to proceed. The download will begin and a progress bar will appear at the bottom of the window as shown below.

When the download is 100% complete, a button will appear on the screen that says Launch Install. When you click that button, a window appears that shows you a file. This file appears in the window shown below.

Notice that the file you have has an ISO extension. An ISO file contains an image of what should be on a CD. You need to transfer the image to a CD using special software. You cannot simply copy the file to a disk. While many software applications are available (you can find a list of them at http://www.thefreecountry.com/utilities/dvdcdburning.shtml) this document recommends and details the procedures involved in using the IMGBurn software product.
Begin by installing the IMGBurn application. Follow these simple steps to do so:
The windows shown below will appear. Assuming you have a CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive capable of burning (creating) disks, the bottom window will indicate that it found a drive.

The next step is to click the Write Image File to Disc button in the first row, first column of the window. When you click that button, the following window appears.

Notice the message at the bottom of the screen. You must insert a blank disk into the drive at this time. The disk you need to insert should either be a CD or a DVD. To determine which you need, go to your “My Software List” in the MSDNAA Software Center in your browser. The item you ordered will say CD or DVD next to it. In some cases, there may be a number next to CD, as in CD1, CD2, CD3, etc. In those cases you must download a installer for each CD and create a separate CD for each one.
If you see DVD next to an item you purchased, you must have a DVD burner. A CD burner will not be sufficient.

Notice that the window now says “Ready” at the bottom. At the top of the window under the word “Source” it says “Please select a file…” and there is a browse folder just to the right. Click on that folder (pointed to by the red arrow in the figure above). Navigate to the c:\temp folder, and then go to the appropriate folder inside it. Select the ISO file you wish to burn to disk. Once you do this, click on the button pointed to by the red arrow in the figure shown below. This begins the burning process.

The burning process will take a while depending on the size of the file and speed of your drive. Typical wait times range from five to fifteen minutes. Once the burn is complete, the IMGBurn program will eject the disc from the drive. At this point you should label your disc with the name of the program on it (in this case Microsoft Access 2007) along with the product key you were given when you checked out the product on the MSDNAA home page.
Note that some programs, such as Windows Vista, may require you to download several downloaders. Each one will appear on your desktop, and each one will require you to burn a CD or DVD.
Once your disk is ready, you can then re-insert it into the drive and the program will begin to install. You may wish to clean up your desktop first, closing the ImgBurn program and removing all the downloader programs from your desktop. You may also wish to remove the ISO file that was stored in your c:\temp folder, although it never hurts to leave it there in case you need to burn another CD or DVD down the road.
